Thailand's BEST STREET FOOD! Where to EAT and what to try in BANGKOK
Today we're so excited to finally try Bangkok street food for the first time. We love Thai food but this is our first visit to Thailand! Bangkok is very famous for its amazing street food and we can't wait to start eating our way through the city to try some of the best street food in the world. We stayed in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok and tried various street food such as pork balls with egg noodles and Mango Sticky Rice.
Pork balls with egg noodles
We are here in Bangkok and the best way to get acquainted with this country is to eat some street food. We are heading out around the city today to explore and eat! Luckily, we are starving, so first we came to a place called Zaew Noodle. This small place is incredible, it is very small and very quaint but seems to be the place to come. We weren’t sure what to order so asked them for recommendations and they said to get Zaew’s pork with egg noodles. However, the fish balls are very popular but we’re typically not huge fans of fish. Our food arrives quickly and it is delicious and subtle. It has a nice basic pork flavour and nice noodles. The consistency of the pork is great. Also, it is not very spicy. The noodles are like a sidekick to the main hero which is the pork. However, we wonder if we need to spice it up a little bit (there were a few things on the table but we weren’t sure what we should add in). The first start dish of the day is a great win.

Mango Sticky Rice
What is great about Bangkok is that there is food literally everywhere. We walked across the street and then found exactly what we were looking for. We are on the hunt for Mango sticky rice. We are told it is the number one thing you have to eat when you are in Thailand. We have heard so many good things about it. The Mangoes are very fresh. It looks awesome. We have full mango cut-up, very sticky rice, coconut milk over the top and dried soybeans on top. After tasting, we can confirm that is so good. It is really simple but delicious. It goes together so nicely. The mango is super fresh and soft and the rice and the coconut milk add a little bit of sweetness to it. It makes it a little bit juicier as well. The soybeans add a bit of crunchiness to the dish as well. It is the dream dessert.

Khao Soi
After our lovely dessert, we walked another 20 minutes to a different part of town. We are looking for a specific dish called Khao Soi. After a little bit of struggling (it was done an alley), we found our next spot. It is very local spot. We can see them out front cooking and in the back, there is the eating area. We were excited to try this dish as well. This is a curry dish that's actually originally from the north of Thailand. It's basically a soup with curry and chicken. There are soft noodles inside and crunchy, fried noodles on the top. We read some reviews online about this restaurant and many people commented that they do not tone down the spice for foreigners. After tasting it, it's definitely spicy, but well balanced as well.

Pork Satay
After taking a bit of a break, we got hungry again. It is time to get some more food. There are so many options it’s difficult to decide what to get. All the food looks incredible. We chose Pork satay which is a popular street food. The dish came with peanut sauce on the side. We were surprised because they cooked them fresh so it did take a little bit of time. When it arrives, it looks really tasty. It is kind of a golden glistening deliciousness happening in front of us. The peanut sauce is creamy and very rich. It's fantastic. It is really small but if it was the only dish we had tonight, It would be perfect.

Pad Thai
Next up, we went on to try Thailand’s national dish, Pad Thai. It is probably what most people think of when speaking about Thai food. We got a vegetarian version because we have been eating a lot of meat today. It is got rice noodles, an egg, and veggies like carrots and sprouts. The first thing we noticed is the big contrast between the soft rice noodles and the crunch you get from the vegetables. The dish has some sort of fish sauce but is vegetarian. Also, there is a little spice as well, it is just subtle. This dish is so fresh and colourful.

Chicken Rice
For our last dish of the day, we decided to have fried chicken rice. In Southeast Asia, you are going to find this dish in a lot of places. We have had it in other countries. The decided on fried chicken this time, which also comes with white rice and sweet chilli sauce as well as chicken broth. The fried chicken is on point, it is crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. You may hear chicken and rice and have a low expectations since it is a basic dish. However, it is different in Thailand. It is a whole different flavour. It is all about the dips that make the rice good. We wonder what is the coating of the chicken. It is golden and crispy and it is just pure deliciousness. At the end of the day, we enjoyed every dish we tried.

Where to stay in Sukhumvit
After eating these great dishes, we need a little timeout. We are pretty full already. It just happens that our hotel is very close. We are staying at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok. The lobby is beautiful. After passing the lobby, we come inside this Oasis. It is huge. It does not feel like we are in the city right now. There are so many different dining options in this hotel. There is a whole bunch of restaurants and cafes. They've got everything here. It is really like a resort but you're in the middle of Bangkok. We are staying on the fifth floor which is also where you’ll find an immaculate pool area. It is calm and zen. Moreover, you get a view of Bangkok’s skyscrapers. We are staying in the garden villa. It is right off the pool so we have immediate access to it. We have a living room are with a TV, a dining area and a huge bedroom with another TV. There is a loungey chairs area outside. There is a spa area with a shower, a tub and a bathroom. There is another room with a massage bed. Moreover, there is a mini bar area, a coffee maker and a big fridge. Overall, it is a very tranquil and relaxing place and we’d highly recommend staying here while in Bangkok.
